How to Talk to Kids about the Coronavirus Health Crisis

Howard University Professor Tyish S. Hall Brown, Ph.D., MHS, offers tips on how to talk to young people during the COVID-19 health crisis. Hall Brown, a child and adolescent psychologist and director of the school-based behavioral health program in the Howard University College of Medicine, notes that children are vulnerable to symptoms of anxiety and depression as a result of exposure to the coronavirus crisis.

Her tips include a recommendation to, “talk to them often, ask them what they know about social distancing and hygiene protocols, encourage them to take their remote learning seriously, and spend quality time indoors having fun.”
