Here is the first think you need to teach your kids about dirt biking.
As a parent you want your kid to be safe while riding motocross or dirt biking the trails.
So, the VERY FIRST THING you need to do is to teach your kid how to…
STOP.
Your child needs to know how to stop his dirt bike before ANYTHING else.
You need 2 adults to help teach your kid how to stop.
First have your child sit on the dirt bike and teach them how to push on the rear brake and the front brake.
Tell them to first push on the rear brake, and then to slowly pull in the front brake.
Once you feel like they understand the difference between the rear brake and the front brake.
Have them practice using the dirt bike brakes.
Once they look comfortable with the brakes and where they are are.
Start the dirt bike and have 2 adults in a straight line go about 100 yards from each other.
Have the child start with one adult and instruct them to ride the dirt bike to the other adult and stop right in front of them.
When the child get close to the other adult, they will instruct them on how to come to a complete stop right in front of them.
The adult will stop the bike using the brakes if the child fails to do so.
The adult will then help the child turn the dirt bike around and ride towards the other adult.
Rinse and repeat these steps until the parent or adult feels like the child completely understands how to stop the bike using the rear brake and the front brake.
