How to Photograph the Moon, tutorial for video and still images

I would expect anyone who has bought a digital camera has tried to photo/videograph the moon and found it wasn’t as easy as just pointing the camera and pressing the shutter button. The moon looks large when viewed at the horizon (optical illussion) but as it ascends it looks very much smaller and infact covers less than 0.5 degrees of the night sky. To photograph the moon takes some knowledge of your camera and ideally a tripod if you want to shoot video. The Earth’s heat haze ( even though you may be freezing cold taking the pictures) also causes optical disturbances – easily visible when you shoot video. In this short video tutorial I show you how to set up your camera to get the best results when photographing the moon in a clear sky.
