What was supposed to be a relaxing summer camping and fishing vacation officially turned into a flintknapping & rockhound FLINT TRIP! We found flint rocks for knapping in the wild, so jay flintknaps primitive stone tools from the chert rock collected as we try out different fishing spots and checked out some of the local creeks around our campsite at a beautiful glacial lake in upstate New York.
Jay uses the chert/ flint rock he found for flintknapping in the wild to how you how to make primitive survival tools and he hand crafts a Paleoindian end scraper, which is an ancient survival tool or primitive bushcraft tool traditionally used for leatherworking, woodworking, and tool-making!
As usual, along the way, we have some surprises and some laughs! A chipmunk almost leaps to his doom off a huge cliff, other wildlife, Leah spies some rainbow trout while swimming in the lake, and Jay catches his first smallmouth and rock bass fish while fishing in the great outdoors!
