How to make a pot holder or oven mitt

In this week’s tutorial I teach you how to make my Grab-N-Go quilted pot holders. This is an original design and pattern I created a few years back and I’m sure you will enjoy making them and giving them as gifts to your friends and family for the upcoming holiday season.

This is a great project for a beginning sewist and/or someone who is interested in quilting but has no idea where to start.

All seams in this tutorial are 1/4″ unless otherwise stated.

Grab-N-Go pot holders whip up quickly and require small pieces of fabric so they are ideal for using up some of the bigger scraps you may have left over in your stash. Feel free to mix and match fabrics and get creative with the quilting!

Materials needed:
– 2 pieces of cotton fabric measuring 7″ x 15″
– 1 piece Insul-Bright batting measuring 6″ x 14″
– coordination thread
– pins
– iron
– rotary cutter + mat or scissors
– ruler
– sewing machine
