I took Track Cycling 101 at the Indy Cycloplex in Indianapolis Indiana. This is home to the Major Taylor Velodrome. I received instruction and coaching by the folks from the Indy Cycloplex, Marian University and Spokes of Hope. I learned about the history to this amazing facility, about the man whom the facility was named after, Marshall “Major” Taylor and then took the the track along with fellow students to begin my 1st on track experience riding on a 28 degree banked course. Marian University utilizes this velodrome as their home course. The Marian University Knights cycling team are a national powerhouse of collegiate cycling, having won over 30 team national championships over between multiple cycling disciplines.
