London offers so much history whilst bursting with life and laughter. Tourists flock to the city and for good reason, it is a city of diversity, with something interesting on every street corner.
WHEN TO VISIT LONDON
The UK has temperamental weather; it rains far too often and London is not fun when you get caught outside during a rain storm.
April to June is the best time to visit London; the weather is getting warmer and there is less chance of rain. September and October are also good times to visit, however we recommend you take a light jacket; especially in the evenings.
July and August can be wonderfully warm but London is incredibly busy and hotels can be double the price. Personally, I love visiting London at the beginning of December, when the city sparkles in Christmas lights and you can find Christmas markets all over – but again expect the crowds and warm up warm.
Remember to check school holidays and bank holidays before booking your trip too.
COST OF LONDON TRIP
London and travel around the UK can be expensive, but there are aways to visit London on a budget.
Chain hotels such as Travelodge or Premier Inn can be in many neighbourhoods, with rooms costing as little as £60 when booking in advance. Hostels can be found for around £20 and can even include breakfast.
Tube fare costs £2.30 and avoid use the rickshaws and black cabs around the city; they are expensive and the city is full of traffic.
Head to a takeaway shop or street vendor for lunches from £5 whilst dinners will cost upwards of £10. Budget chain restaurants you should consider are Nandos, Pizza Express, Wagamamas and the Gourmet Burger Kitchen.
For attractions in the London, book tickets in advance to save money, use the National Rail two for one offers and get discounted prices on sights and restaurants from Groupon.
HOW TO GET AROUND LONDON
The easiest way to get around London is by taking the tube. The Underground takes you around the city and within walking distance the most sights in London. To save time queuing for tickets each time, get yourself an Oyster card or use contactless debit cards.
Walking London is also possible by why not use the bike rental scheme around the city, which allows you to rent a bike by the hour.
WHAT TO EAT IN LONDON
Not sure what to eat in London? Make sure to try Fish and Chips, have a full English Breakfast and try some of the international foods in Borough Market. London has lots of fine dining options too and the Harrods Food Hall is a must.
THINGS TO DO IN LONDON
There are many things to see and do in London and these are just a few of our favourite
First is Tower Bridge. This iconic bridge stands over the Thames and even houses an exhibition inside. Not far from the Bridge is the Tower of London; an historic prison in the heart of the city.
Make sure to spend time window shopping in Oxford Street and Covent Garden or head up the top of the Shard for incredible views of the city. Want to enjoy the skyline without the price tag? Head up to the Sky Gardens for free but make sure to book an arrival time in advance.
Mingle with Royalty at Buckingham Palace and spend time in Westminster to visit the iconic Big Ben, Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey.
Visiting London with family? Jump on the London Eye or visit the Harry Potter Studio tour on the outskirts of the city.
Looking for a unique experience in London – why not try some Afternoon Tea; you can even book a themed afternoon tea such as Harry Potter or Alice in Wonderland.
