Toad the Wet Sprocket rode in with the cavalry in 1991 with the platinum selling Fear with included the hits Walk on the Ocean and All I Want which is the song that we will go behind today with lead singer and songwriter Glenn Phillips. All I Want went to #15 on the billboard hot 100 and to #4 on the top 40 mainstream charts. All I Want came out in the year that everything changed. College rock went mainstream, although it was packed into the catch all moniker Alternative along with many other sub genres. Rem released Out of Time which turned the band into megastars , Perry Farrell of Janes Addiction co founded Lollapolooza, and later in the year Nirvana went to #1 with Pearl Jam and Soundgarden not far behind. Glenn Phillips tell the story of writing and recording the hit and his influences including Rush, REM, U2 and the Replacements.
