Hey Flower Tribe ! Welcome back to my channel, where you can always find great garden tips and flower advice.
Today I want to show you how to Plant, Grow, and Harvest Sunflowers in Your Garden.
Sunflowers are one of the first flowers I learned how to plant and they are super easy to grow in your gardens. They make for beautiful cut flowers and if you love growing flowers or are a beginning gardener, this is a fabulous flower to work with.
To plant them, simply find a sunny place in your garden that gets at least 6 hours of sunlight each day ( the more the better) sunflowers love sun so a spot that gets full sun is best.
Dig a small trench about 1-2 inches deep. Check the back of the seed pack for exact planting depth for your sunflower variety since there are so many different kinds of sunflowers . Most are planted 1-2 inches deep. I usually plant my sunflowers that are the medium size ones
( not the giant Mammoth Sunflowers ) about 2 inches apart since I like an even smaller flower head for the fresh but bouquets we ship nationwide on our cranburyfields.com site. The heads would grow larger if I spaced the seeds out 6 inches apart . Check for the suggested spacing directions on the back of the seed packet. Then cover them with 1-2 inches of soil and water. Make sure they have water from rain or your hose as they are first getting established.
Once established , these gals are pretty drought tolerant and should grow with out much maintenance or fuss. The flowers in this video where planted and then mother nature took care of the watering for me. if you do have a period of super hot rain free days, it is a good idea to provide them with water if you can.
I also would like you to know that I have a florist that i run out of my flower farm barns and we deliver our flowers nationwide. Check out this link if you would like to ship my gorgeous burlap wrapped floral bouquets to a loved one. Cranburyfields.com
